Shadowing a dentist opens the world of dentistry to interested students
in multiple ways. Interest in dentistry can begin in high school or college
and can be supported by a dentist mentor. This program will allow us to
see which level of interaction between student shadow and mentor is
most valuable.

Being a mentor dentist allows a dentist to "give back" to his/her
profession and create contacts for future associations. Mentoring gives
dentists the opportunity to form and encourage future leaders of the
profession and organized dentistry.

Numerous other states such as Pennsylvania, Missouri, New Mexico,
North Carolina and Wisconsin have all instituted mentoring programs for
